They’ve arrived. Masses of zombified monsters and bio-constructs have spread out into the Damnya Sector and threaten all they encounter!
The Zayken send waves of infected zombie-like creatures towards the enemy, overwhelming them in sheer numbers. Not only that, but a hive mind drives them ever onwards, making them extremely difficult to engage as there’s no standard command-and-control structure, just a gestalt will choosing when the right time is to act. There are even reports of assimilated tanks in their midst, providing devastating armoured firepower, plus are also extremely difficult to destroy.
But that’s not the only trick up their collective mutated sleeves. In the Sitrep phase, there’s a chance that they may evolve into new creatures as the hive mind adapts to the threats it faces. And the answer is a big ‘yes’ – as time goes on, we’re going to see brand new bio-constructs as the Zayken expands into the Damnya Sector (at the end, might even have a little preview for you!).
Today, we have the following Zayken products available for purchase:
-Zombie Horde – does what it says on the tin! Swarms of frenzied infected individuals act as the vanguard of the Zayken assault.
-Neophyte Mob – those zombies who have ‘remembered’ to use ranged weapons, shooting blighted rounds down-range to create outbreaks of zombies amongst the enemies’ midst
-Spore Slavers – specialist support zombies who can provide indirect fire, mind-controlling their prey and luring them onwards. Not only that, but their poisonous aura is a threat to all those who approach.
-Corrupted Anvil – a zombie tank! well, a tank full a zombies who have fused with it to make something truly disgusting. Its bloated chassis is extremely difficult to destroy, and its weapons have been melded together to provide valuable ranged firepower for the Zayken forces, and like the Neophytes above, can turn enemy infantry into more zombies!
-Hive Mind Tokens – tokens to, well, represent the presence of the hive mind on the battlefield.
-Zayken Strike Force – a collection of the Zayken set to represent a 300 Req army – a great starting point.
-The Zayken Acquisition Roster – a FREE PDF document where you can learn more about the Zayken’s background and their rules for use in games of From Ashes.
There we have it! The Zayken are now added to From Ashes, and make a great squelchy Christmas present too!
