Hi all
I’m extremely excited to announce that the new update to From Ashes is NOW AVAILABLE from the From Ashes Rules Downloads page!
This addition has seen several fundamental changes, with a focus on streamlining the game without loosing granularity. In particular, perhaps the biggest change is the fact that during Engage Commands, Damage rolls are now carried out by the target player as an Armour Save roll. Probabilities have not changed in this regards, but I’m confident you’ll find this gives space for the attacking player to fire off their shots down range at the target, then focus on their next steps as their opponent organises the ‘defensive’ rolls.
Rather than me rabbit on about all the changes here, you can see the full list of exactly what has changed in this edition below.
Not only that, but all the Acquisition Rosters have been updated to further improve balance, and of course, accommodate the changes in the main rules.
A quick note on the Sol Enclaves – when you head over to the Rules Downloads page you’ll see that the Sol Enclaves have several additional Acquisition Rosters; these are the sub-factions made into their own documents with the rules changes added in to each Unit where relevant, saving you crucial time instead of flipping between pages. They have remained in the original document however, for those of you who prefer everything in one place.
The new Zayken Zombie Horde and Spore Slavers will get their own mini-AR in a short while too – watch this space for that.
Oh and one last thing: sometime in the future (best-laid-plans and all that) there WILL be a hardcopy version of the main rules, and I’d like to just share an image of the front cover – let us know what you think, and of course which changes in this update you like most!
